We use a Lightforce Class IV Deep Tissue Laser for our laser therapy. This type of laser was approved in 2004 by the FDA for the safe and efficacious reduction of pain and increase of micro-circulation. Laser therapy, or photobiomodulation, is the process of photons entering the tissue and interacting with the Cytochrome C Complex within the cell mitochondria. The result of this interaction is the biological cascade of events that leads to an increase in cellular metabolism, thus promoting tissue healing and decreasing pain. Laser therapy is used to treat acute and chronic conditions as well as post-activity recovery. It is an effective pain-relieving alternative to prescription drugs, a tool to postpone the need for some surgeries, and effective as pre- and post-surgery treatment to help mitigate tissue damage and control pain.
Most patients are encouraged to come in for treatment 2-3 times per week for the duration of their treatment plan. As the effects are cumulative and compounding, most plans will require 6-12 treatments, with less for acute problems and more treatments for chronic conditions. Patients typically report increased sensations (including warmth) in the tissue(s) following treatment, along with an immediately apparent analgesic (pain relief) quality.
Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine
Chinese Medicine is a fully comprehensive system of medicine that functions to assist the body in its natural healing capacity by provides the body with the harmony and strength it needs for optimal function. We do this by promoting the healthy movement of blood and Qi (energy), as well as strengthening and balancing the organ systems. Because Treatments are based on pattern presentation, every disease and condition is treatable. Most patients are pleased to note that treatment extends beyond the main problem, and report improved sleep, smoother digestion, increased energy, and an overall sense of well-being.
While every Body is different, there is no way to predict how your body will respond to treatment. Most Patients, however, report a calm and clarity that lasts 12-24 hours after a session, and it is typical for symptoms to decrease or subside for 2-3 days before slowly returning. With continued treatment of once or twice a week for a month (or more, depending on severity), symptoms tend to slowly improve, ideally subsiding completely. While every person is treatable, not every disease or problem responds to treatment. In this situation, treatment often helps to slow the progress of the disease and help the body garner its own resources to function most optimally.
