Matthew was born and raised in Key West, FL. After high school, he went to the University of Florida and studied Microbiology. In 2001, with his bachelor’s degree in hand, he ventured even further to San Diego, CA and began working in the Biotech industry.
It was in San Diego that Matthew became interested in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). He was drawn to TCM because of the naturalistic view of an integrated body that can be guided into balance through treatment. This newly sparked passion led him to begin in depth study at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. Part of his study included Chinese Medical Massage, called Tui Na, and he worked as a massage therapist while completing his Master’s Degree. He graduated in 2012 and became a Licensed Acupuncturist in California in 2013. In 2014, he and his wife, Jenni, decided to follow a new path to all the beauty that is Bend and Central Oregon. He is certified as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine by NCCAOM, as well as licensed by the Oregon Medical Board.
TCM is a medicine based on the movements of nature, and with that, Matthew likes to spend as much time outdoors with his wife as he can. Coming from an island, he loves everything water, as well as biking, hiking, backpacking, and snowboarding.
